Swiss Cottage School is a funded ‘Expert Centre’ for the Global Learning Programme, which is supported by the UK Department for International Development (DFID). Our vision as an expert centre, is to grow a network SEND practitioners, with whom we can co-construct and evaluate new resources and approaches for delivering quality global learning for children and young people with learning difficulties.
Schools who sign up to join our network will receive places on three professional learning days at Swiss Cottage School, for two members of their staff, free of charge. Participating schools will also receive lots of global learning “goodies”, and £500 worth of e-credits to spend on courses from a range of providers, including UNICEF, Amnesty International, and the Eden Project.
Through these three days, we intend to explore global learning in relation to the entire age and SEND range, including early years, post-16, moderate learning difficulties, autism, and profound and multiple learning difficulties. We also intend to explore a range of themes, including “assessment-without-levels” for global learning, global sensory stories, and the role of global themes within a needs-based curriculum. The network will be led by a combination of Swiss Cottage staff,  visiting practitioners, academics, and colleagues from across our partnership. For the network to be a success, we need a range of committed schools and SEND practitioners on board, each with a willingness to contribute and share innovation.
You can register your school to join our network through the Global Learning Programme website http://globaldimension.org.uk/glp/registration and also by emailing Tracy Edwards at Swiss Cottage School at: tracy.edwards@swisscottage.camden.sch.uk
