Curriculum and Assessment Coaching Couch

An opportunity for special schools to sit together, share thinking, and engage in collaborative planning.

Our “coaching couch” provides a space for reflective dialogues, to support special school leaders working to develop a curriculum for learners with SEND, for the 21st Century.

The Swiss Cottage Teaching Schools Alliance is resourced to address the priorities of a wide variety of schools, including those that accommodate learners from the primary and secondary age range, with particularly complex needs including PMLD and Social Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties.  The “coaching couch” also lends from previous successes

It offers meaningful professional learning through Mentoring-Coaching and joint practice development.

Schools that sign up to our “coaching couch” gain access to:

  • Three places on one of our “coaching couch” days, at Swiss Cottage School, Development and Research Centre.
  • A follow-up optional two hour Mentoring-Coaching visit to your school, from a Specialist Leader of Education with curriculum development expertise, based at Swiss Cottage Teaching Schools Alliance.
  • Access to materials, insights and updates through a termly e-newsletter, and copies of presentations.

To maximise the usefulness of the “coaching couch” and its capacity to support change, the number of schools able to participate in each coaching couch” day will be four.

Through the involvement of Swiss Cottage Teaching Schools Alliance, the “coaching couch” has been designed around the full range of SEND, for example MLD, SLD, AS, PMLD and SEBD.
